Galveston, TEXAS – A pirate-themed youth triathlon is set to bring athletes and temporary road closures to the Moody Gardens area this Sunday.
The Captain Kid’s Triathlon, designed for athletes ages 6 to 16, will take place at Moody Gardens from 7:30 to 11 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 13, according to the City of Galveston.
The city said temporary road closures will be in place along portions of the bicycle course as participants make their way through the area.
Closures are scheduled for Hope Boulevard, Lockheed Drive, Piper and 83rd Street from approximately 6 a.m. through 9 a.m. Sunday.
Officials said Stewart Road will not be impacted by the event.
The Captain Kid’s Triathlon is a pirate-themed athletic event for young competitors between the ages of 6 and 16, bringing participants and spectators to Moody Gardens for the morning competition.
Drivers traveling in the affected areas are encouraged to plan ahead and allow additional time because of the temporary closures.
The event is scheduled to conclude before the road restrictions are lifted at approximately 9 a.m., while the overall triathlon will continue until 11 a.m.
