Galveston,TX – Galveston Police Department officers responded to a reported bomb threat at Murdoch’s Pier on Thursday evening, 27 Aug., after an unattended package was discovered at the business.
Police said officers were dispatched at approximately 5:54 p.m. to the 2200 block of Seawall Blvd. following the bomb threat. The business manager had already made the decision to evacuate customers and employees from the location.
Responding officers located an unattended package and determined that an Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team should be called to the scene.
After evaluating the package, the EOD team determined that the safest course of action was to destroy it in place.
Police said a subsequent examination of the remnants determined that the package was not a live explosive device.
An all-clear was given at approximately 8:20 p.m., allowing the incident to conclude without a live explosive device being found.
The Galveston Police Department said the investigation remains ongoing.
